Aurele Cyr

AUBURN – Aurele Cyr, 81, of Lewiston,, died on Sept. 19, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 7, 1943 in Lewiston, Aurele was the son of the late Damase and Leone (Violette) Cyr. He was part of a large family being the fourth of seven children. He married Rachelle Gagne, daughter of the late Dominique and Antoinette (Metivier) Gagne on July 2, 1966 at St. Croix Church in Lewiston. They were married for 58 years.

Aurele spent his career as a truck driver, retiring from Poland Spring Water in 2007. When not on the road driving for work, Aurele enjoyed putting miles on his Spyder with Rachelle or on his snowmobile with his family. Another favorite pastime was meeting up with friends at all the local coffee shops or randomly stopping by friends’ houses to say hello.

Aurele was the go to person for everyone. He never hesitated when family, friends or neighbors needed help, oftentimes, not even waiting to be asked.

Aurele is survived by his wife, Rachelle; two children, daughter Ruby and her husband Arthur Duguay of Saco, and son Jason and his wife Jennifer (Lalemand) Cyr of Auburn. Aurele had three grandchildren that he adored, Autumn (Duguay) Flynn and husband Aaron, Erin Duguay and Dominik Cyr. His surviving siblings include Andrina Leger and brothers Joseph, Rene and wife Flora, and Jude and wife Joan, as well as sister-in-law, Judy Cyr, and brothers-in-law Rene Gagne, and Marcel Gagne and wife Louise.

In addition to his parents, Aurele was predeceased by his sister, Pricilla Gagne, brother, Robert (Moe), sister-in-law, Mary Gagne, and brother-in-law, Edward Leger.
