Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Millbury
RANGELEY PLANTATION – Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Millbury, an 87-year resident of Rangeley Plantation, passed into God’s embrace at her home in Rangeley Plantation, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, surrounded by family, just as she wanted, with a full house and crowded table. Betty is considered a legend by her family and friends who’s generosity of spirit, fierce unconditional love, and service unto others spanned generations in her mountain community.
Betty was a trailblazer for women of her generation who showed “anything boys can do; girls can do better.” She drove dump truck, school bus, farmed the land, was a renowned chef, and cared for those in need and always had room at her table. She dedicated her life to the service of families, friends, and the community.
Betty was met in heaven by her love, Donald Millbury, who passed on March 23, 2022; granddaughter, Carissa who passed on July 10, 2024; siblings, Margie Mathes, Lucille Richard, Isabelle Stewart, Beverly Hill, and Jack Haley.
She is loved by her children, Stephanie Keep and husband Cary, E. Scott Millbury and his wife Daphne and Dawn Edgerly and her husband Richard; a brother and best friend, George “Huck” Haley; two sisters, Virginia White and Elaine Moody; and a special nephew, Rupert Stewart; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Main Street, Rangeley with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery. Following services, all are invited to Parkside and Main Restaurant, Main Street, Rangeley.
