Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival has awarded a $300 prize to its 52nd anniversary poster design winner, Cindy Choi, a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Norway.

Virginia Valdes, the graphic design instructor, has been working with festival organizers for 19 years creating a new design each year. The poster design is incorporated into a brochure to promote the festival, a program booklet distributed at the five concerts at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, and into posters, advertisements and social media posts assembled during the season.

Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School graphic design instructor Virginia Valdez, left, with Cindi Choi, a graphic design student and winner of the $300 prize for the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival 52nd anniversary poster design.

Valdes said of Cindy, “She is a style maven who knows what’s on trend and how to create winning designs that appeal to a large audience. Her mastery of conception, ideation, creativity and technical rigor make her work stand out above the crowd,” according to a news release from festival organizers.

Choi was named Oxford Hills Technical School’s Tech Student of the Year and received several medals for advertising designs at SkillsUSA. Her design entry for the New York Times ranked in the top 20 out of 4000 entries. She is vice president of the Student Council class of 2024, the SkillsUSA member/secretary and representative since 2021, and part of the OHCHS Civil Rights Team since 2023. She is attending Boston University to pursue degrees in chemistry and graphic design.
