To the Editor:
I am supporting Charlotte Nutt to represent Oxford County House District #79 and the towns of Paris, West Paris, Sumner and Woodstock. She has chosen to run as an independent with the hope of helping to bridge the divide between people of different party affiliations.
I met Charlotte when she visited our neighborhood in Bryant Pond last spring. In fact, in the last six months, Charlotte has knocked on thousands of doors in our area to introduce herself and to hear what is important to all people in our area.
In her experience as a data and GIS planner for the Midcoast Council of Governments, Charlotte has seen that rural towns often have difficulty accessing resources they need. As a state legislator, she plans to help address new ways for these towns to have better access to supports that benefit those who live in rural Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
