The Gray Water District has lifted a boil water order following possible E. coli contamination of the main water supply.

Bill Gardner, superintendent of the water district, said last week that unsafe water may have gotten into the system via a leak in the main line.

The order was announced Wednesday and lifted Tuesday afternoon, the town announced in a statement on social media.

The town is advising water customers to flush all water lines and faucets in their homes and to discard food, beverages and ice made during the boil order.

Customers should run the water until it comes clear, then continue flushing for another three to five minutes, the town said in a statement.
