Winnifred M. Belville
AUBURN – Winnifred M. Belville, 86, of Mechanic Falls passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 at Clover Manor.
She was born at home on the farm in Turner to Frank A. and Florence (Dean) Mitchell on Dec. 19, 1937, along with her twin brother Walter Mitchell.
She attended school in Turner through the eighth grade.
Winnie worked making snowshoes after leaving school to assist with family duties and helped raise her youngest sibling June.
She married Richard E. Wing in October of 1956. They had two daughters Rhonda and Deborah. She divorced her first husband in 1966 and found love again in 1969 with Richard Belville. They were together until his death years later. She enjoyed camping and travelling.
She worked at a shoe shop in the office for many years. Her greatest joy was being with her family and she adored them above all else. She often would have the grandkids over for the weekend and they would play games and sit around just being silly. When her grandkids were older, they would often bring friends over to visit with their Nana and she would become known to them as Nana, as well.
She was well loved by those who knew her. In recent years while living at Clover many of the staff would say how they loved Winnie and they would drop by to see how she was doing.
Winnie was predeceased by her parents; siblings; a granddaughter Micelle; and many old friends.
She is survived by her daughters; grandchildren, Mike, Angela and Tracy; along with great-grandchildren Lillyana, Kadyn and Mason; and great-great-grandson Cyrus.
Winnie’s family would like to thank the loving staff at Clover Manor for their care and love for mom, as well as the extraordinary staff of Andwell Hospice – Margaret and Laura.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, 1 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls with a time of visitation prior to the service from 12-1 p.m. Interment will follow at River Hill Cemetery in Turner.
