Shawn Patrick Tardif

STANNARD, Vt. – It has been a year since our brother, husband, father, son, grandfather and friend, Shawn Patrick Tardif, left our world. Shawn passed away on Nov. 3, 2023, in an early morning fire that consumed his home in Stannard, Vt.

Born in Farmington on June 27, 1964, to Leonidas A. Tardif Sr. and Patricia M. (Tyler) Tardif. His brothers were Alfred Tardif of Jay, Leonidas Tardif Jr of Stannard, Vt., and Clifton Tardif of Piedmont, Okla.

Shawn grew up in Wilton, where the four brothers lived with their Uncle Eugene and Aunt Judy Tardif for seven years. Then he moved to Livermore Falls and Turner. He married Ethel Crocket of Wilton and had two children: son, Eugene of Jay, and daughter, Shelli of Palmyra.

He led a very active life and settled down in Stannard, Vt. and married Mary Lillie. They lived for 21 years in the home they built. They were raising their two grandchildren, Brandon and Kaitlyn. He had two stepdaughters who dearly loved him, Connie Jarvis of St. Johnsbury, Vt. and the late Krystin Curshmann. He also had two great-grandchildren.

He worked most of his life as a mechanic, fixing this, fixing that. Trading labor for important things that they needed in life to make things better.

He got sick about six years ago when he was injected by Gadolinium and Omnipac 350, which he was allergic to. This should have been in his medical records and the nurses/doctors should not have given it to him. This ultimately led to over six years of his organs being destroyed internally.

He tried hard to overcome this medical error and sought medical treatment to cure him, but sadly, the hospital declined responsibility, and he was left to deal with the outcome.

Shawn lived his life as a Free Spirit. Helping those around him as he went through life, not asking for much in return except for maybe a thank you and a little respect. He was always lending a hand to anyone in the community when needed.
