Lorraine Brewer Chretien
FAYETTE/TURNER – Lorraine Brewer Chretien, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, passed away on Nov. 7, 2024, surrounded by family, at the home of her daughter, where she lived for the past two years.
Lorraine was born in Fayette, Aug. 6, 1924, where she spent most of her life. She attended local schools and then graduated from Central Maine General with a nursing degree.
Lorraine married Stillman Brewer in 1949 and they enjoyed 31 wonderful years together, which included raising seven children. After being a widow for a number of years, she reconnected with a former high school classmate, Dona Chretien, who she married in 1992 and spent 16 years together until his passing.
Lorraine loved her family and enjoyed life. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending winters with her daughters in Florida. She loved playing games especially Bananas doing crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and above all spending time with family and friends.
She was a beloved member of Fayette Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Grange for many years. She was an artist and a poet. She had an easy warm smile and a great sense of humor. She was comfortable laughing at herself. She always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a “Hello Dear”. She was well loved by anyone who ever met her.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Linda Reed and husband Tom of Parrish, Fla., Elaine Makinen of Gorham, Richard Brewer of Greene, Patrick Brewer of Phoenix, Ariz., Patricia Scruggs and husband Kevin of Sarasota, Fla., Kenneth Brewer and wife Elaine of Poland, Liz Sturtevant and husband Kurt of Turner, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Andwell Hospice Services for their compassionate care of our mother.
Family and friends are invited to Lorraine’s visiting hours on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4 to7 pm at Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd, Jay. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15th at 1 pm at the Fayette Baptist Church, 39 Baldwin Hill Rd with interment following in Holy Cross Cemetery.
