I am writing in disbelief of how the state of Maine has little regard for its workers.

There is a large logging company from Wisconsin earning hundreds of thousands of dollars clear-cutting a power line through the state. Now, there is a Chicago construction company rebuilding the bridge in Kittery. Not to mention Canadian loggers cutting Maine’s forests.

Are there no Maine workers qualified to cut trees or build bridges?

I wonder — if the amount of state assistance dollars paid out to unemployed Maine workers (who could be working on these projects) was added to the “lowest bidder” cost — is the state really saving any money?

I think not.
