Muriel (Tardiff) Gousse

LEWISTON – Muriel (Tardiff) Gousse, 98, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Louise (Lemay) Tardiff.

She graduated from Lewiston High School in the class of 1945. She then graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1948. She was the nurse manager of the nursery. She also worked for Dr. J.P. Nadeau as nurse manager of his office.

She married Maurice E. Gousse on Oct. 23, 1948.

She is survived by her sister, Pauline Campbell; her three children, the Rev. Paul Gousse, Louise Bissonette and Dr. Marc Gousse and his wife Jeanne; her grandchildren Scott Gousse and his wife Bryna, Geary Bissonette, Ryan Bissonette and Joseph Gousse and his wife Amanda; great-grandchildren Alicia Bissonette, Sean Vachon, Ridge Bissonette, Tyler Gousse and Carly Gousse; and one great-great-granddaughter, Ainslie Doughty.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice; two sisters, Marcella Patry and Theresa Cummings; her longtime companion, Raymond Charest; her son-in-law, Geary Bissonette; and grandson, Robbie Bissonette.

A Funeral Mass honoring Muriel’s life will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will be private at Gracelawn Memorial Park. At the request of the family there will not be any visitation. Arrangements by The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
