FARMINGTON — Two women were charged early Sunday on High Street in connection with a missing sign.

Colleen P. Lyons, 21, and Jade Peterson, 22, both of Farmington were arrested on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer at about 12:50 Sunday morning on High Street.

Sgt. Michael Adcock and officer Courtney Krause were patrolling the local streets when they noticed the pair carrying the “No Parking This Side” sign and post, said Rachel Heseltine, Farmington Police secretary.

They told police they found the sign in the middle of the sidewalk near Lake Avenue and were taking it to Lyons’ residence on High Street to use as a lawn ornament, Heseltine said.

Both were released from Franklin County Detention Center Sunday on $3,000 unsecured bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 1.
