NORWAY — As winter makes its return, Western Foothills Land Trust (WFLT) is excited to kick off the season with a wide range of opportunities to get active outdoors. From guided programs to Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, there’s something for everyone – no matter your age or ability – to enjoy this season.

The Norway-based Land Trust proudly offers access to a Nordic ski center featuring nearly 25 kilometers of groomed Nordic ski trails, all free and open to the public at Roberts Farm Preserve, located at 58 Roberts Road in Norway.

A highlight of the Preserve is its Warming Hut and Ski & Snowshoe Shed, which provides free Nordic ski equipment and snowshoes for use on the premises during hours of operation. The highly anticipated opening of the Warming Hut is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28 – just in time to make the most of this winter wonderland.

Mark Your Calendar for the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk Dec. 21! Next up on the Trust’s seasonal calendar is the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk, taking place on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. at Roberts Farm Preserve. Join this guided evening walk to celebrate the start of winter, followed by hot cider and holiday cheer at the Warming Hut.

Participants are encouraged to bring a lantern or headlamp to light the way. The program is free, but registration is encouraged. Visit www.wfltmaine.org/programs to sign up and explore additional offerings scheduled from January through March.
