FARMINGTON — An Augusta woman faces a charge of criminal trespass after she was found curled up in a couple’s home early Tuesday morning.
Hearing someone banging on their door at 3 a.m. saying, “‘I’m hungry. Let me in,'” homeowners at 121 Hurst Lane thought someone was breaking in, Police Department secretary Rachel Heseltine said. They told her to go away but she continued to bang on the door and repeat her request, she said.
When police officer Courtney Krause and Wilton police responded to the Hurst Lane home, they found Melinda Darveau, 39, curled up in a ball in the doorway of the mudroom. Appearing highly intoxicated, Darveau told police she thought she was at a nearby friend’s house, where police were called earlier that night for a loud fight and several intoxicated people, Heseltine said.
Darveau’s license had an Augusta address but police believe she may be staying in the area, Heseltine said.
She was arrested and booked at the Franklin County Detention Center and posted $3,000 unsecured bail Tuesday. She has a court date of Dec. 1.
