RUMFORD — Conrad “Connie” W. Hall, 79, of Dixfield, died Monday, Oct. 17, at Rumford Hospital.

He was born in Peru, Nov. 26, 1931, a son of Leonard and Esther (Pinnette) Hall. He attended Peru schools, Dirigo High School, and Stephens High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Korean Conflict having participated in the assault and seizure of Inchon, the securing of Seoul, and participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin campaign.

On May 14, 1955, he married Janice Hodsdon at the St. Athanasius Rectory in Rumford.

Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as a truck driver for Stowell-MacGregor, drove a car hauler, and also worked at CMP as a first class Lineman. For the next 30 years, he pursued his greatest love of trucking, working for several different companies even after his “retirement.”

Mr. Hall enjoyed dancing; especially the jitterbug with his sisters. He also was an avid reader and loved to tell stories.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice of Dixfield; his nine children, Nate Hall and his wife, Diane, of Topsham, Joseph Hall and his wife, Becky, of Peru, John Hall and his wife, Renee, of Wells, Sarah Ellis and her husband, Kurt, of Lewiston, Chris Hall and his wife, Linda, of Peru, Dana Hall and his wife, Sherry, of Dixfield, Matthew Hall of Alston, Okla., Clinton Hall and his wife, Julie, of Dixfield and Jennifer Swan and her husband, Patrick, of Augusta; a sister, Gloria Gallant and her husband, Ed, of Portland; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Rachael Walker; and a brother, George.
