Kristene Elaine Hilts

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kristene Elaine Hilts, 81, of Leeds, Maine, passed away on Dec. 16, 2024, in Fort Myers, Fla. She was born on April 5, 1943, in Milford, Conn., the daughter of Clarence Noble Spencer and Myrtle (Dow), and stepdaughter of Alton (Bucky) Gammon. The family moved to Maine when she was 4. Krissy attended Edward Little High School in Auburn.

She worked at local shoe shops, and loved her job at Hannaford in Auburn. When she retired from Hannaford, she went to work for the Auburn School Department at Park Avenue School as a kitchen aide where she finished her working career due to health issues.

After being together since 1981, she married the love of her life, Robert Hilts, Jr. in April of 1992. Krissy’s interests were a reflection of her outgoing and adventurous personality. She found joy in dancing, camping, slot machines, bingo and being surrounded by family and friends.

Kristene is survived by her husband, Robert Hilts, Jr.; two children from her first marriage, Sheri Poliquin and her husband Paul, and Annette Pulsifer; three grandchildren, Becky, Cody, and Zachary; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Donald Spencer, twin sister Carlene Ward, brother Ronald Spencer, and an infant brother that died at birth. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday Jan. 18, 2025, from 9 – 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Committal prayers will be said in the Chapman Room at Gracelawn Memorial Park following the service.
