Gregory F. Knight

SCARBOROUGH – Gregory F. Knight, 75, formerly of Livermore Falls, and now Otisfield, passed peacefully from this life into eternity after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on Jan. 11, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his loving family in his presence. He was born on Oct. 17, 1949, in Farmington, son of Linwood A. and Marilyn S. Knight. Greg was reared in Livermore Falls through elementary school and then moved to Portland, where he graduated from Deering High School in 1968. After graduating from the University of Maine, Orono in 1972 he worked as a public-school speech pathologist in Thomaston and raised Nubian goats from his home in Warren. After receiving a Master of Education in Secondary Education, he spent the next 26 years as an active school administrator in various school districts. In 1982, he married Danielle Dallaire of Sherbrooke, Quebec and they settled in Limestone where he was the Assistant Principal of the Damon Elementary School, located on Loring Air Force Base. He was the Principal of Glenburn Elementary for 16 years, followed by two additional principal positions in Southern Maine. After retiring in 2008, Greg decided to take on a new endeavor as a school bus driver for Oxford Hills School District. He enjoyed the next 11 years transporting children, which turned out to be the most rewarding job of his entire educational career. As much as Greg had a passion for education, Greg loved cruising the coast of Maine in his boat, “Just For Fun.” Additional leisure time was also spent traveling with his camper from North Carolina to Quebec. He was an active member of the South Paris Baptist Church and a regular attendee of the Spurs Corner Alliance Church in Otisfield.

Greg was predeceased by his parents and brother, Andrew Copeland. He is survived by his wife Danielle of Otisfield, son Vincent Marechal and wife Tasey of York, Pa., daughter, Chantal Lavine and husband Matthew of Bethesda, Md., and four grandchildren, Austin and Dylan Marechal and Miles and Julian Lavine. He is also survived by his brother Gary Knight and wife Lynn of Livermore Falls, sister Gail Knight of Bothell, Wash., sister Barbara Barbour and husband David of Port Charlotte, Fla., along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and half siblings. The celebration of life ceremony will be held at Spurs Corner Church in Otisfield at a date to be determined and interment will follow at Moose Hill Cemetery in Livermore Falls in the Spring.
