LEWISTON — The Lewiston boys hockey team remains perfect in 2025, but the Blue Devils needed overtime to defeat arch rival, St. Dom’s, 3-2, on Wednesday at The Colisee.

An important part of Lewiston’s eight-game winning streak has been goaltender Will Routhier, who has a goals-against-average of 2.23 in that stretch.

After giving up two third-period goals Wednesday, Routhier bounced back and helped force overtime.

“Will’s been playing great all year — you know, huge save, 30 seconds left to keep us in it and give us that opportunity to get it done in overtime,” Lewiston coach Sam Cloutier said. “Will’s really taking it into his own, and he’s doing really well out there, so really proud of him.”

How did Lewiston win?

• The Blue Devils (10-3) got goals from secondary options, including defenseman Jacoby Oliveira, who scored the game-winner 3:21 into overtime.

“I just was kind of hanging out at the blue line, and the puck happened to pop out to me, so I walked into the middle and happened to find the back of the net,” Oliveira said.

• Charlie Foster recorded his first two points of the season. He gave Lewiston a 1-0 lead when he streaked into the offensive zone and fired the puck past St. Dom’s goalie Ashton Additon. He also assisted on Colten Daniels’ third-period goal that gave Lewiston a 2-0 lead.

What does it mean?

• Lewiston, which ranks second in the Varsity Maine poll, maintains its spot at the top of the Class A Heal point standings with five games remaining in the regular season.

• St. Dom’s (6-8) has dropped seven of its last nine games but remains in a playoff spot as the sixth-place team in Class A. Despite the stretch, St. Dom’s coach Marc Frenette still likes the Saints’ chances if they do make the playoffs.

They said it

• “You know, always hurts when you don’t get the final goal to win it. But I think we’re going to learn a lot from this one. I’m proud of my team’s effort. I really am.” — Marc Frenette

• “We came out on the wrong end of it, but we showed enough grit that anybody who plays us going forward and in the playoffs should be fearful.” — Frenette

• “It was definitely a fun game. It’s one of those games where it’s … Lewiston, Auburn, all of the surrounding areas come together to watch a game like this, and it’s just super fun. You’ve got a lot of fans going crazy, and, like I said, these games can just get really exciting.” — Jacoby Oliveira
