Muriel Alice (Morin) Webber
AUBURN – Muriel Alice (Morin) Webber, formerly of 13 Sunset St., Lewiston, and more recently a resident of Clover Manor in Auburn, passed away Thursday March 13, 2025 at the age of 98.
Born on April 18, 1926, she was the oldest daughter of Alcide P. Morin and Marion (Gagnon) Morin. Muriel was a graduate of Lewiston High School and earned a nursing degree from St. Mary’s Nursing School in Lewiston. She later went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Joseph’s College in Windham.
On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Merle W. Webber of Lewiston. The couple enjoyed 62 years of marriage before Merle’s passing in 2009. Together, they raised five children.
Muriel’s nursing career spanned many years, with time spent at St. Mary’s Hospital and Androscoggin Home Health, though she also lived out of state for several years due to Merle’s work. They ultimately settled in Lisbon Falls, where Merle owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store. They were longtime members of St. Patrick’s Church in Lewiston.
She is survived by four sons, Gary and wife Bonnie of New Gloucester, David of Greene, John and wife Cathy Conlow of Turner, and James of Turner, a daughter, Gail and husband William Sproul of Cumberland; two sisters, Lorraine Dejarnette of Naples, Fla., and Pauline Hawkins of Limington; as well as 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Merle; a grandson, Brandon; and a daughter-in-law, Irene (Chenard) Webber.
In addition to her nursing career and dedication to her family, Muriel had many passions. She was a devoted Mary Kay representative for over 40 years, an enthusiastic gardener, and a skilled seamstress. She also loved camping and gathering her family for any occasion. Muriel treasured the time spent with her sisters and was known for her loving, caring nature. She lived by example, teaching others the importance of love, respect, and hard work.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday March 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
