Joyce Marcia Rowland
AUGUSTA – Joyce Marcia Rowland, 83, left this world to join her savior on March 23, 2025. She was born to Rodney Dunn and his wife Amelia (Pekurney) on Sept. 25, 1941, in Corinth, New York. She graduated valedictorian of her class of 1959 from Corinth Central High School, during which she played first clarinet in the state band. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Gary John Rowland, on Aug. 22, 1959. Her hobbies included sewing, oil painting, baking (including wedding cakes), gardening, and quilting, making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She lived to help her children and was an intensely devoted and involved grandmother. She especially enjoyed summers at the family camp on Schoodic Lake. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ron, her beloved husband of 64 years, Gary, and her son Stephen. She is survived by her sister Suzanne Chandler, her children Michael (Cheryl) Rowland, Marcia (Suzanne) Rowland, and David (Cindy) Rowland, her grandchildren Amelia, Cole, Jennifer, Clay, Caleb, Eliza and Sloane, and her great-granddaughter Auri, as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
