AUBURN — Three men were arrested Tuesday after an alert neighbor called police to report suspicious behavior at a home on Country Club Drive.

Police said that when they arrived at the home at about 11 a.m., they found two women sitting in a Subaru and three men exiting the home in question. The Subaru would later prove to have been stolen from Waterville more than a week ago, police said.

The women initially told police they were there to help someone at the residence, investigators said, but their information was “vague and inconsistent.”

When three men came out of the home, police detained them. They soon learned that the men had broken a back window to gain entry to the house.

“The suspects claimed they were retrieving items for the homeowners,” police wrote in a press release, “but the homeowner confirmed no one had permission to enter his property.”

The men were arrested and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.

Robert Hermanson, 31, described as a transient, was charged with theft and violating conditions of release. Casey Braley, 32, of Lewiston was charged with burglary, unlawful drug possession and violating conditions of release. Marcus Valencia, 43, of Turner was charged with burglary.

Police said that when they searched the suspects, they recovered knives, suspected stolen jewelry and 39 suboxone strips.

Braley and Hermanson were being held at the jail without bail. Valencia’s bail was set at $400.
