
Richard Theriault
AUBURN – Richard Theriault, 76, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2025.
Born in Lewiston on Dec. 25, 1948, Richard was the son of Gerard and Annonciade Theriault. He was a graduate of St. Dominic’s Regional High School and earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the Army ROTC and the National Guard.
Richard had a long and diverse career that included managing the family business GA Peterson, leading AmeriCon and The Continental Corp as President and CEO, overseeing major restoration projects in Lewiston-Auburn including preparing the arena for the Lewiston Maniacs and the restoration of St. Peter’s Basilica, and providing retirement planning services through his firm, Seniors Financial Planning Group.
He loved boating, flying his small plane, and was a regular at Oxford Casino where he enjoyed playing blackjack.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Theriault; daughter, Christine Burke (Arron) and their children Allison and Evan; daughter-in-law, Barbie Theriault, wife of his late son Jason, and their children Alexander and Amelia; son, Michael Theriault (Diane) and their children James and Andrew. He also leaves behind his siblings Maurice (Diane), Roger (Lorraine), Diane (Gerry) Fortin, and Rachel (Michael) St. Pierre; as well as many in-laws; nieces, nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Jason Theriault; and his brother-in-law, Jonathan.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 5 PM to 8 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St., Lewiston with Committal Prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
