DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few months ago I wrote to you soliciting your help to make my mom’s 95th birthday a very special one by being part of a card shower for Maxine in Ohio.

I am happy to report that with your help, my mom’s card shower was a smashing success. She received over 400 individual cards!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Who couldn’t use $100,000? The Lewiston-Auburn Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its $100,000 Hole-In-One Golf Contest. If you make a hole-in-one in the finals, you win $100,000! There is no other contest like this around.

Everyone is welcome to qualify. Just use your favorite club and our golf balls and try as many times as you like! Bring your friends to share in the fun. It only costs $1 for one ball, six balls for $5, and 13 balls for $10.

This contest will be hosted by Taber’s Restaurant, Miniature Golf and Driving Range at 470 Lake Shore Drive in Auburn. The qualifying dates are June 14 and 15 from noon to 5 p.m., and June 18, 19 and 20 from 4-7 p.m. Those who are the 10 closest to the pin qualify to shoot it out for the top prize of $100,000 on June 21 at 3 p.m. — Andy, no town

ANSWER: This is a fundraiser for the Lewiston-Auburn Kiwanis Club. They have been serving our communities since 1922 with many charitable activities, such as scholarships, supporting Key Clubs in five area high schools, and donating to community groups.
