Ronald Dayon
RUMFORD – Ronald Dayon, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his residence with his beloved family by his side.
Ronald was born in Rumford on Jan. 27, 1944, and was the son of Wilfred and Emelia (Richard) Dayon. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and served in the United States Navy. He worked for the Rumford Water District for more than 30 years until his retirement. Ronald was a devoted NASCAR fan whose enthusiasm brought joy to family and friends alike. He loved texting with friends, playfully betting on which driver would win each race, turning every NASCAR race into a fun and lively connection with those he cared about.
Above all, Ronald was a selfless and devoted husband to his “best friend”, Gloria and a loving father and grandfather. He taught his children the true meaning of loving selflessly and showed them how to find happiness in the simple blessings of life. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His unwavering love and support were a foundation for them all.
Ronald was a truly remarkable man; gentle, caring, patient, tolerant, and endlessly generous. Everyone who met Dad felt his warmth and kindness; he didn’t just know people, he made friends wherever he went. He was a beloved pillar of our community, always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, and a generous heart.
He is survived by his wife, who was the love of his life, Gloria of Rumford. Other survivors include his sons, David and wife Stacey of Manchester, NH, Thomas and wife Melinda of Petal, Miss., daughters, Linda Thornton and husband Joseph of Rumford, and Kelly Cronkhite and husband Neil of Hooksett, NH; 11 grandchildren, Jami, Jordan, Josh, Jake, Chelsea, Alyssa, JT, Shelby, Colby, Ryan, and Andrea; and eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, Corbin, Everett, Reid, Cole, Cullen, Delaney, Lakely, and his grand fur baby, Jaxon. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Hector Dayon, and his sisters Dorothy Garrett, Shirley Dunn, and Vernice Collette.
