DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Auburn Community Concert Band will present an evening of patriotic music at Festival Plaza on Main Street in downtown Auburn on Wednesday, July 2. The free concert will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. This may be the only patriotic-themed band concert of its kind taking place anywhere in central Maine.

People attending the event should bring their own lawn chairs and are advised to arrive well before the 7 p.m. start time, as the largest audience of the summer is anticipated.

Ample free parking will be available in the parking garage located across the street from the Plaza. Auburn’s Age Friendly Group will be onsite selling refreshments on site, and portable toilets will be available alongside the parking garage. In case of inclement weather, visit www.auburncommunityband for concert status. — Milt,  band director, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: How can I get a copy of a Sun Journal article published on Oct. 1, 1983? It is a biographical note regarding my ancestor, Jean Mouton, from nine generations back.

I’ve been doing family genealogy for two decades and the article contains information that I’ve not been able to find anywhere else. Please let me know how to do this. — Rodney no town

ANSWER: If you are a subscriber, you should be able to go into the archives and plug in the information you just gave me and print out the article. If you have any issues with doing that, call the office at 207-784-5411 and someone will help you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have a list of people in the area who repair DVD and CD players? — No name, no town

ANSWER: Sadly, I do not. It seems that no one is doing this type of repair any more. Some of the folks I have in the Rolodex have retired or moved away. Sun Spotters, if you know of anyone, please write to me ASAP.
