REGION — The High Peaks Alliance is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Momentum Conservation Land Trust Grant Fund. This competitive funding will provide vital support for the Alliance’s general operations as it continues its mission to ensure public access, conserve critical landscapes, and foster community collaboration in Maine’s High Peaks region.
The High Peaks Alliance works across 1.3 million acres of internationally significant habitat, advancing conservation, recreation, and economic resilience through partnerships with local stakeholders, municipalities, and outdoor groups. The grant will help strengthen the Alliance’s capacity to protect natural resources, maintain and improve public trails, and deliver inclusive outdoor programs for all residents and visitors.
“This grant is a testament to the importance of collaborative conservation in Maine’s High Peaks,” said Amanda Laliberte, Director of Engagement for the Alliance. “With Momentum Conservation’s support, we can continue to expand access to the outdoors, steward our region’s trails, and ensure that the benefits of nature are available to everyone—now and for generations to come.”
The Momentum Land Trust Grant Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations that are committed to justice and innovation. The High Peaks Alliance was selected for its demonstrated leadership in centering community voices, advancing equity in outdoor access, and pioneering new approaches to land stewardship.
The Alliance’s recent initiatives include the launch of the Scenic 7 Hiking Challenge, the creation of Franklin County’s first ADA-accessible trail, and the upcoming High Peaks Regional Recreation Corps, which will maintain over 100 miles of trails this summer. The Alliance also plays a key role in regional planning and economic development tied to sustainable recreation.
