
Lorette Suzanne Fournier Chabot
JAY – Lorette Suzanne Fournier Chabot, 98, of Jay, died late Tuesday evening, July 1, 2025, at Maine General Rehab and Nursing at Graybirch in Augusta.
She was born in Jay, June 22, 1927, a daughter of Dosithee and Cecile (Pineau) Gosselin. Lorette’s mother passed when she was young and her father married Juliette Labine, who became a loving mother for she and her siblings. She attended a Catholic boarding school in Jackman and returned to Jay where she graduated from Jay High School.
On Sept. 7, 1951, she married Armand Fournier at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He died in 1994. Family was the most important part of Lorette’s life, and she enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling, playing Bingo, and especially enjoyed playing the slots. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.
She is survived by her children, Michael Fournier, Patty Donald (Jim), Louise Chandler (John), Gail Nickel (Richard), Marlene Walker (Scott), and David Fournier (Robin); 12 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Ronald; grandson, Ian Fournier; great-grandson, Peter James Fournier; grandsons-in-law, Warren Small and Raymond Roy; three sisters, Rita Pepin, Lorraine Legasse, and Theresa Beaudette; and second husband, William Chabot.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 11 at 1 p.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay, Thursday, July 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. Memories and a memorial video may be shared in her Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com.
