Anita Claire Pateneaude
OXFORD – Anita C. (Reid) Pateneaude, 87, of Oxford, passed away at Stephens Memorial Hospital on June 30, 2025. She was born in Norway on July 10, 1937, to parents Harry and Margaret (Crooker) Reid.
Anita graduated from Norway High School, class of 1955. She went on to attend the Maine Medical School of Nursing, graduating in 1958. She married Wesley Pateneaude on April 5, 1958, and together they raised two wonderful children, Linda and Michael.
Anita started her nursing career in the early days of Stephens Memorial Hospital, working in the operating room. After that, she worked for Dr. Harper for 25 years as his office nurse. After Dr. Harper’s retirement, she focused on running Reid’s Service Center with her husband, Wesley, until their retirement in 1999. She loved to travel, she spent 20 years wintering in Arizona, creating new lines of friends.
Anita was a very devoted member of the Oxford Congregational Church, a member since 1949. She and her husband Wesley, and a select group of people that were responsible for gathering funds for the restoration and preservation of a hidden mural in the church.
She is survived by her son, Michael Pateneaude and wife, Penny, daughter, Linda Seamon and husband, Steven; granddaughters Cassandra Pateneaude and fiance, Luke Storer, Lexie Leahy and husband, Brandon, Jessica Welch and wife, Mary, grandsons Jason McElravy and wife, Heather, Shawn McElravy, Dan McElravy and fiance, Haley Rego, and Matthew Seamon and significant other, Melanie Brown; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Ivy Leahy, Killian, Addison, and Lila McElravy, Sidney and Darlene Welch, Ryleigh and Brynn Seamon; and many grand-furbabies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley in 2005; and her son-in-law, Robbie Caron in 1999.
There will be calling hours on Friday, July 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at the Oxford Congregational Church, 252 King St., Oxford, with the burial to follow.
