Richard S. Austin

LISBON – Richard S. Austin, 85, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston. He was born in Rumford on Oct. 1, 1939, a son of William B. and Shirley (Gill) Austin. He spent his childhood in West Peru, Maine and graduated from Stephens High School in 1957.

After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. George Clymer and was honorably discharged receiving a Good Conduct Medal. He worked for a variety of employers including Maine Research, Raytheon, RCA and Liberty Mutual which he retired from in 2001. In his retirement he worked part-time for Pathway Vineyard Church providing janitorial services.

He loved many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, canoeing, cross-country skiing and spending time at his family camp. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, The Eagles, American Legion in Lisbon and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Richard is survived by his children Kelly Woodcock and husband Bud and Allen Austin and his wife Darlin; grandchildren Ashley Anderson, Emily Parent, Jennah Gagnon and Erik Austin; and great grandchildren Tanner, Jameson, Kai and Mae; and his very special partner Dorothy Levesque.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother William Austin and sisters Verlie Child, Rachel Lovejoy and Ruth Cornish.

There will be visitation on Thursday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with service immediately following at 11 a.m. at Pathway Vineyard Church, 12 Foss Road, Lewiston, Maine.
