Jeanne M. Duguay
RUMFORD – Jeanne M. Duguay, 81, passed away unexpectedly Monday July 14, 2025, at CMMC surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Rumford.
Born in Rumford on Nov. 12, 1943, Jeanne was the first child of Ronald and Bertha (Quirion) Drouin. As a teenager, she was blessed with a second mother, Esther (Curato) Drouin. Jeanne was a proud graduate of Stephens High School, class of 1962. On Aug. 1, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Duguay.
After graduating, she did piecework at a shoe shop. She later worked in various roles such as an apple picker and a volunteer at Rumford Hospital in oncology. But, when asked about her career, she happily said “homemaker”.
Jeanne was a socialite. She planned her weeks around time spent with her families, both blood and chosen. Regular appointments included bingo (Seniors, Eagles, Locke Mills, and Jay), cribbage, grief support meetings, Thursday McDonald’s lunches, and church services. She was a woman of strong faith and prayed daily. If she knew you, she prayed for you in difficult times.
Survivors include daughters Carrie and husband Jack Arsenault of Mexico, Kim and husband Michael Papsadora of Rumford, and Chris and husband Matt Myatt of Gray. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rosie Noyes and husband Josh, Eric Bordeau and wife Karen, Danny Bordeau and wife Kayleigh, Samantha Gallant and husband Brady, Matthew Papsadora and wife Tracie, Nathan Papsadora, Kristin Arsenault and partner Callahan Prendergast, and Connor Myatt. She shared a special love with her 10 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Bordeau, Blake and Bradley Bordeau, Kaden and Cameron Papsadora, Emma, Maci, and Claire Gallant, Carleigh Smith, and Amora Gatchell. She is also survived by her brother, Gary and wife Janet; and by a very large circle of extended family and so many special lifelong friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard Duguay; and her sister, Carol Plante.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Jeanne’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at The Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Ave., in Rumford. Committal Services will then follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Rumford. At the request of the family there will not be any visitation prior to the Mass.
