David L. Silvernail
AUBURN – David L. Silvernail, 79, passed away at the Andwell Hospice House in Auburn on July 13, 2025 as a result of complications from cancer. His life partner, Judith L. Johnson and her family were able to be with him at the end.
David received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Indiana University and had a 43-year career at the University of Southern Maine.
He supported the State of Maine Legislature for years, proposing standards that would assure that every student in the state had an equal opportunity for a high quality education, and conducting studies to help inform the work of the Maine State Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs.
David was predeceased by his father and mother, Alfred and Palma Silvernail; and his two siblings, Elaine Robinson and Paul Silvernail.
He is survived by his beloved life partner, Judith L. Johnson and children, Lara Anthony (Arthur), Lou Talarico III (Lesley), Ross Talarico (Amy) and grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Anthony, Elsa, Jack, Henry, and Harper Talarico.
