Arnold Blaine Child Jr.
AUBURN – Heaven has gained a very special angel. Arnold Blaine Child, Jr., known to all as “Blaine” was born in Lewiston to Arnold and Bernice Child.
Although Blaine’s life began and ended with many physical and medical challenges, he lived a very full life and enjoyed decades of wonderful experiences. He was part of the first group of special needs students to be integrated into the main stream school system. He graduated from Winthrop High school in June of 1999.
Blaine lived with and was lovingly cared for by his parents for the first 44 years of his life. Blaine participated in the Special Olympics where he placed fourth in equestrian riding. Blaine enjoyed boat rides when living on Cobbosssee Lake, traveled to many places including Alaska, Texax, Mexico, and Arizona where he and his parent lived for 15 years. He especially loved traveling across country in his parent’s RV.
Blaine loved spending time with his family attending all of the holiday gatherings and special occasions, He enjoyed everything he did from visiting parks, going to Tabers for an ice cream and therapeutic horseback riding in the summers. Blaine was a bright light in this world. He loved people and touched many lives with his bright eyes, big smile and charming personality. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers throughout Blaine’s life who assisted his parents with his care. We also want to thank Andwell Hospice for their compassion and care of his last days.
Blaine is survived by his mother, Bernice Child; his brother, Joseph McIntire and wife Diane, his sisters Natalie Coleman and husband Joseph, Cynthia Brown, Tamela Paradis and husband John; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his father, Arnold B. Child Sr.
A graveside service will be held at East Winthrop Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26.
