Bonnie Kay (Burns) Knight
AUBURN – Bonnie Kay (Burns) Knight, born on Nov. 27, 1929 in Augusta, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in her adopted hometown of more than 55 years, Auburn.
Bonnie’s husband of 70 years, Richard “Dick” Knight, predeceased her in December 2020. They met at the Windsor State Fair during high school and were married in November 1950. After short stops in Waco, Texas, Mapleton and Camden, they moved to West Auburn in 1966 and lived there until 2020.
As a young lady, Bonnie entertained community groups in the Capitol area as a ballet dancer. After she and Dick were married, she devoted her daily life to her children.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved seven sons, Richard (Elaine) of Maine, Terry (Maria) of North Carolina, Steve (Mary) of Texas, Ken (Becky) of Indiana, Bill (Ruby) of Maine, Bob (Rosemary) of Maine, and Dan (Tina) of Kansas; and a bushel of nieces, nephews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
We want to thank the staff at Schooner Memory Care and Beacon Hospice for their outstanding care in Bonnie’s last days, months and years.
Funeral services honoring Bonnie’s life will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, at 1 p.m. at The Fortin and Pinette Group in Auburn. Committal Services will then follow at North Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. prior to the service at The Fortin and Pinette Group, 217 Turner St., in Auburn, 783-8545.
