Janis “Toddy” Whitcomb-Kilbreth
LEWISTON – Janis “Toddy” Whitcomb-Kilbreth, 92, of Turner, passed away on July 23, 2025, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 28, 1933, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Alden A. Green and Phyllis (Tucker) Green. She attended Turner area schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1951. Janis was a member of the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church.
Janis’ passion in life was dancing, which began at the age of 13 while attending Grange Hall dances. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, golfing and gardening. Her most special memories were from hosting large gatherings at her farm for family and friends. During her 92 years of life, Janis traveled to 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico and Europe.
Janis was married to Herbert Wesley Whitcomb until his death on March 3, 1982. Janis later married Frank “Billy” Kilbreth until his passing Sept. 20, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Lisa W. Freda of Bethel, Brent M. Whitcomb (Elaine) of Keesville, N.Y., and Beth W. St. Pierre (Marc) of Turner, her stepson, Stephen Kilbreth and wife Thelma of Mechanic Falls, four stepdaughters, Cheryl Vogelsong and husband Tom of Brooksville, Fla., Robin Wiggin and husband Jim of Benton, Kelly Smith and husband Richard of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Candace Benoit and husband Dave of Verona Island; grandchildren include, Thomas (Elizabeth) Whitcomb, Matthew Whitcomb, Hannah (Adam) Richards, Spencer St. Pierre, and Shelby (Erik) Ryan; great-grandchildren, Katherine and Kennedy Whitcomb, Quinn and Connor Richards, Hadley St. Pierre and Noah Ryan; 11 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Alvin “Happy” (Juanita) Green, her stepsister, Valerie Green, and stepbrother, William Green, sisters-in-law, Glenice Green and Pam Green; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her infant son, Peter Wesley; her brothers Alden E. Green, Bertrum Green, her stepbrothers, Steven and Gary Green; and her son-in-law, Rocky Freda; and a cousin, who was like a sister, Jeannette (Hines) Couture.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 28 at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment Pleasant View Cemetery, 51 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls.
