Henry Marcotte hit a two-run single as Greater Sanford scored three times in the first inning and beat the United Kingdom 9-5 in its second pool play game at the Babe Ruth 13-16-year-old World Series on Friday in Branson, Missouri
Greater Sanford lost its first game of the tournament earlier Friday, 17-1, to Panama.
Greater Sanford is off Saturday and returns to pool play at 9:30 a.m. Sunday against Westchester.
Marcotte added an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning as Greater Sanford scored three times to turn a two-run lead into a five-run lead.
Parker Bjorklund added an RBI double in the fifth and Tyler Do stole home. Do had four hits and scored three times.
In the opener, Eric Cordero was 3 for 3 with four RBI for Panama. Kenneth Belgrave added two hits, including a home run, three RBI and scored three times.
Kasey Bean and Parker Bjorklund each had a hit for Greater Sanford.
