Charles Eder Pottle

WESTBROOK – Charles Eder Pottle, 71, passed away at his home in Westbrook with his children by his side on July 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Eastport on July 6, 1954, Charlie grew up in Perry, often working with his dad at the family business, Pottle’s Garage. Charlie graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1973 and SMCC in 1989.

Charlie was humorous and fun-loving, living life authentically and unapologetically. He overcame the challenges of addiction and embraced a life of sobriety. He never held back in showing his love and affection for family members, which was often expressed with personalized jokes. Charlie also had a passion for gaming, to which he dedicated many hours, while building a community of online friends.

He was predeceased by infant daughter, Brandy Lynn; and parents Charles “Chick” F. Pottle and Mary E. (Avery) Pottle of Perry.

He is survived by his son, Nicholas J. Pottle of Portland, daughter, Hilary Elizabeth Mohn and husband Justin of Westbrook; Peter Lamb of Poland; granddaughters Ava and Eleanor Mohn; brother, James Pottle of Manchester, N.H., brother, Jeffrey Pottle of Oxford, Ga.; sister, Mary-Jean Robinson and husband Craig of Dresden, sister, Jacqueline Schomaker and husband Jon of Greene; and his beloved roommate of 17 years, Sophie the cat. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will take place at 60 Samoset Rd. in Boothbay Harbor on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 12 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.
