Congratulations to Gary and Barbra Priest, of Rangeley and North Reading, MA, who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at their camp in Rangeley. Gary grew up in Rangeley, graduated from Rangeley High School and University of Maine, served in the United States Army and had a career as an accountant. Barb grew up in Des Moines, IA and graduated from University of Iowa. Gary and Barb met when they were both traveling in Greece in the 1960s and, in addition to their love of each other, they have always shared the love of travel. After marrying and settling down in Massachusetts, Gary and Barb purchased their camp in Rangeley in 1970, and raised their family with regular and frequent trips to Rangeley. When Gary retired in 1994, he and Barb began spending all their summers lakeside in Rangeley, with non-summer months filled with many fabulous trips to locations all around the globe. Gary is a long-time volunteer for Historic Rangeley and has written several books on the camps and hotels of Rangeley.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
