Norman Goddard

LEWISTON – Norman Goddard, a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and lover of the World Almanac, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on Nov. 14, 1956, to Conrad and Cheryl Goddard and grew up in Lisbon Falls, where he spent his childhood playing baseball with neighborhood friends and enjoying time at the family camp.

After high school, Norman joined the U.S. Army and served three years on active duty. When he returned to Maine, he worked as a landscaper before beginning a more than 20–year career as a corrections officer at the Windham Prison.

Norman’s love for all things Texas—especially the Dallas Cowboys—was legendary. Yelling at the TV during Cowboys games was one of his favorite pastimes. After a trip to Texas with his sister, he even adopted a cowboy hat and boots for several years. His endless curiosity about the world led him to spend hours in the library’s reference section, ready with a random fact for anyone who crossed his path. He was known for asking things like, “Do you know the current birth rate in China? Or “Do you know which country has the largest population per capita?” He never went anywhere without his beloved World Almanac or an Atlas. Above all, “Stormin Norman” was known for his big heart and his even bigger appetite. The local Chinese buffet may never recover from his many visits.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Judy Goddard; his brother, Greg Goddard; and his stepdaughters, Kerry and Penny.

He is survived by his daughter, Liz Coen (Kevin); his grandchildren, Addy and Ben; his siblings, Mark and Cindy Goddard; as well as his step-grandchildren, Ella, Jake, Allison, Nick, and Andrew.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.

Online condolences may be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
