Elaine J. Damon

BUCKFIELD – Elaine J. “Babe” Damon passed away surrounded by family and her best friend on Oct. 7, 2025.

Elaine was born on March 18, 1950 in Lewiston, the daughter of Alred and Josephine (Foster) Jordan. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1968.

In 1970 she married Elwood “Skipper” Damon. They were married until Skip passed in 2017. They made their home in Buckfield and even though they never had children, they spoiled all children including Nic Coates and Jared Ames.

Elaine lived with her sister, Alma and husband, Tom for the past nine years and most recently at Russell Park Rehab. She worked for many years at Pioneer Plastics alongside her brothers Mike and Arthur “Skip” Jordan.

Elaine loved Bingo, camping, the Red Sox and racing. She enjoyed her daily breakfast crew at Market Square restaurant and the Buckfield Mall. She could always be found at Oxford speedway cheering for her favorite driver, Mike Rowe. She became very close friends with Mike and Karol Hill. She enjoyed going to New Hampshire to the races with nephew, Mark Jordan.

She appreciated that Skip’s nephew, Michael Damon always kept in touch with her after Skip passed. It meant a lot to her and she would smile when he referred to her as “Trouble”.

Elaine loved playing cards with her best friend, Diane Lizotte and loved her even if she is a Yankees fan. She looked forward to daily calls from Harriet Mansir and Cathy Giles. She loved her outings with Cathy going to appointments and lunch. Elaine loved all time spent, especially holidays with Alma, Tom, Meggan, Cam, Janis, Jared, Chelsea, and little Katie, the apple of her eye. Elaine made friends wherever she went. She was easy to love.

The family would like to thank staff at Russell Park and CMMC for their care of Elaine.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents; brothers William, Arthur, and James Jordan; and nephew, Todd.

She is survived by her sister, Alma Jordan-Peer (Tom) of Buckfield, her brother, Michael Jordan (Elizabeth) of Hebron, sisters-in-law Wanda and Linda Jordan, April Buck, and Janis Hunter; in-laws Ross, Marcia, Bobby Jean, and Leah; many nieces, nephews; cousins; and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday Oct. 11 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Buckfield Masonic Hall, 5 High St., Buckfield. A graveside service to follow at Damon Cemetery, N. Buckfield Rd., Buckfield. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
