DEAR SUN SPOTS: My 10-year-old daughter is having her 5th Annual Food Drive. Since COVID, she has had a box at the end of our driveway at 64 Rabbit Valley Road in Oxford where people can leave nonperishable food items to benefit the local pantries for Thanksgiving. Please donate items by Saturday, Nov. 22. And please, no expired items. Thank you for keeping my daughter’s dream alive of helping others! — Laura, Oxford

ANSWER: I remember you and your daughter and how you have helped people in the past. I’m pleased to hear from you and to know your project is still going strong. Keep up the good work!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Community Little Theatre production of “A New Home” will open on Oct. 30. I know that many Sun Spots readers will remember the original musical, “Lewiston: A New Home” that was presented in 1995 to sold-out audiences.

In the 30 years since that production, major events — both good and tragic — have occurred in Lewiston and are now represented in the musical’s revival to enhance its relevance and historical significance.

All performances will be held at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 30, Saturday, Nov. 1, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 through 8, at 7:30 p.m. There will also be performances Sunday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online at laclt.com. Don’t miss it! — Roger, no town

ANSWER: The box office can also be contacted at 783-0958 or at [email protected]. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and students, and $17 for children 13 and under.

On the website, this play is described as an original musical that tells the rich, complex history of Lewiston. Written and composed by Paul G. Caron and first performed in September 1995 for the Lewiston Bicentennial, this production brings to life the stories of Lewiston’s Indigenous, Franco-American, and African immigrant communities, whose contributions have shaped the city’s identity and culture. The sold-out performances of “A New Home” received wide acclaim for the show’s musical score and the heartwarming authenticity of its stories.

An original cast album was released in December 1995, and the show was performed again to sold-out audiences in 1996.

I’m glad there are so many opportunities to attend this performance and so proud of all those involved.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We invite you to the Wales Presbyterian Church Women’s Group Yard Sale and Bake Sale at 668 Pond Road/Route 132 in Wales on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2.p.m.
