We’ll be selling baked goods such as cookies, cakes, pies, bread, and an assortment of candies, pastries; used books, and DVDs.

Our white elephant table always boasts lots of  treasures for your home. We’ll have garden harvest items such as jellies, jams, salsas, and pickles. We’ll also have gently loved stuffed animals, crafts, including knitted scarves, hats and mittens; kitchen towels, dishcloths and bowl cozies. We’ll have handmade Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations, as well as a raffle table with a wide assortment of gift certificates for lobster and gas, meals at local restaurants, and many other treasures.

Come visit us at the high school to get a start on your holiday gift buying! We’ll even have a concession stand so you can grab lunch while you’re visiting all the fairs in this area! — Jean, Lewiston

ANSWER: This sounds wonderful! Thank you for all your hard work, ladies.

The ladies of Mu are all educators, active and retired, from Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding communities. Money generated by our annual fair goes toward scholarships; one for a graduating senior from one of the high schools in the Twin Cities or surrounding communities, who plans to go into education; the other for a Delta Kappa Gamma member who is working on renewing their certification or an advanced degree.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re looking for anyone interested in restarting a Sabattus Seniors group. From what we have heard, the group has been inactive for the past few years. We are asking all those who would like to see a social/recreational group back up and running in Sabattus to let me know by emailing at [email protected] for more information. Please let your friends and relatives know as well! — Jon, Sabattus

ANSWER: Every community needs an active group like this, now more than ever. Let’s get together and help each other out. I’m sure the seniors of Sabattus have lots of ideas and wisdom to share.
