
Lydia Chapman successfully challenged Quinn Gormley to capture the Ward 4 seat on the Auburn School Committee.
Chapman, a political newcomer, won Tuesday’s election, 587-395.
Five of seven incumbents rolled to victory to remain on the committee for the next two years.
The other newcomer, Misty Edgecomb in Ward 2, who ran unopposed to fill the seat of retiring member Pamela Hart.
Committee members Korin McGuigan in Ward 1 and Pat Gautier in Ward 3 also were unopposed.
In Ward 5, Daniel Poisson, who has served on the board since 2015, won against former committee member Constance Mercier, who was seeking a return after more than 10 years. Poisson received 783 votes and Mercier had 366.
Chair Pamela Albert won a three-way race to fill one of two at-large seats. She received 2,955 votes.
Incumbent Olivia Jaye Rich captured the second at-large seat with 2,918 votes against challenger Nancy Pulk, who received 2,855.
