Graham Platner has been smeared as a secret Nazi by opposition researchers for a chest tattoo that resembled the SS Totenkopf.
Skulls, with or without a jawbone or crossed femurs, have been symbols adopted by military units, particularly those viewed as elite, since long before pirates used it for a flag. The elite Marine Raider units in the Pacific were wearing skull patches at the same time as Hitler’s SS units. In Vietnam, elite MACV SOG members did not have an authorized logo, but every one of us who served in Army Special Forces knows the skull wearing a green beret is SOG.
If people believe the skull is proof of Nazi affiliation they should Google “skull” and “military” together. Platner was branded both a commie and a Nazi within days of Mills entering the race. Do I need to say more?
