An Auburn man was sentenced Wednesday to serve three years of a seven-year sentence for firing multiple shots from a handgun toward his girlfriend in Auburn and Norway in September.
Anthony Torres, 21, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of domestic violence reckless conduct with a firearm and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, Auburn Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
Auburn police investigated the report of shots being fired on the evening of Sept. 10 on Willow Street in Auburn.
About 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 10, police were sent out to the area after multiple people reported hearing what sounded like gunshots in the area of Willow and Hampshire streets.
Auburn police received information during its investigation leading them to work with the Norway Police Department on an unreported incident on Sept. 5 on Yagger Road in Norway, Auburn Deputy Police Chief Timothy Cougle wrote in an email.
The two departments worked together to resolve the Norway case. Police conducted several interviews and executed search warrants before charging Torres in the cases.
A resolution was reached in the two cases, Cougle said.
After Torres is released from prison he will serve four years of probation, and an additional nine months for violating his probation on a charge of violating a protection order. He was on probation when he was charged in the September cases for violating a protection order in an unrelated case.
