An Oxford County woman was injured Monday night when a hair removal device she was using ignited a tube for her supplemental oxygen.
The woman from Andover was using a “heat-based hair removal device” when the oxygen tube ignited inside her home on Horseshoe Pond Road in Andover late Monday night, according to a news release from the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The woman had burns on her face and head, officials said. She was initially taken to Rumford Hospital for treatment before she was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Officials did not disclose the woman’s condition but said Wednesday morning that she is still being treated for her injuries.
