I’m hoping that our elected leaders, at both the federal and state levels, look to a health care solution that will work for all Americans, while keeping the costs down. The most evident solution out there now is a single-payer health care system, administered by the government and taking out the corporate profit and high costs that most people in this country are dealing with.
There are several paths out there to this type of health care. All are financially feasible, and all provide health care to all people in this country. Health care providers overwhelmingly support this kind of system for their patients. Most countries use a system like this. It’s long past time for the United States to begin taking care of its people.
Citizens can learn more about options at nationalsinglepayer.com or here in Maine at HealthcareforallMaine.org. Check out these and other websites. Contact our representatives at the state and federal levels. It’s not just Congress that is letting things stay the way they are. We, the people, need to organize, join organizations, contact representatives and never give up until true, affordable health care in the United States is available to all.
To keep America great, we need to keep Americans healthy.
