Douglas M. Larrabee

NORWAY – Douglas M. Larrabee, 81, of Mechanic Falls, passed away on Friday Dec. 19, 2025, at the Norway Rehab Center, with his family by his side.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1944, in Lewiston, a son of the late Richard and Ellen (Lodge) Larrabee. After graduating high school, Douglas joined the United States Army proudly serving the country for over 20 years.

Douglas married the love of his life, Cynthia Blanchard, on Feb. 18, 1967, and together they raised their family in Mechanic Falls.

He worked as a Driving instructor for Mullen’s Driving School, a job of which he was extremely proud.

He enjoyed all sports including tennis, skiing, water skiing and even bowling. Doug also liked to help his neighbors by snow blowing yards and cutting lawns as needed. He was a firearms instructor, co-founder of Junior Rescue in Mechanic Falls. He was also a 50-year member of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge and was an active member of UCT being the president of the New England Grand Council more than once. But most important to him was spending time with family and especially his grandchildren, playing games including cards, Rummikub, and even chess.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Richard and Ellen Larrabee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Larrabee; his children, daughter Kimberly Crowell and her husband John, son Heath Larrabee and his fiancée Crystal Paradis; his sister Judith Benson; and his adored grandchildren Jacob Crowell, Lance Crowell, Alyson Larrabee, Quynn Larrabee, and Watson Paradis; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will hold a visitation on Saturday Dec. 27, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls, with a service at 4 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on Douglas’ obituary page.
