James “Jim” R. Hunt
RUMFORD – James “Jim” R. Hunt , a cherished husband, father and respected community member, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2025, in Rumford at the Rumford Community Home.
Born on June 4, 1934, in Peru, Maine to Ezra and Winifred Hunt, Jim’s life was marked by his unwavering kindness, compassion and loyalty.
Jim built his career as a Scaler for the Boise Cascade Paper Company, and he was an exceptionally talented carpenter. Jim married the love of his life, Patricia Farrar, on March 12, 1955. Together they built a life filled with love, and raised their family in Peru.
A devout Christian, James attended the Peru Baptist Church. His faith was his guiding light throughout his live, providing comfort, strength and a sense of purpose. He lived his beliefs through his actions, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him. Jim enjoyed puzzles, local history, and engaging in conversations with friends and family. He was also devoted to journaling his life.
Jim was predeceased by his sons Greg and Gary; as well as his parents; and four sisters.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia; his daughter, Lori (Mickey) Feeley, his daughters-in-law Peggy and Katherine, a daughter, Leslie (Marc) Barton and son, Briant; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
May he rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. from the Peru Baptist Church with interment following at Demerritt Cemetery, Peru.
