At 86, I am tenacious and independent. I have a close-knit relationship with all my technology; they are separate and intertwined in my daily life. I have a 14-year-old desktop computer, a television with Roku, an iPad, iPhone and I topped it all off with an Apple watch, for safety reasons, about six months ago. Sigh!

Just in the last few days, my “tech friends” came to my rescue. When my Roku didn’t work, I changed the batteries to no avail and went to my computer and asked them what I needed to do. I had a variety of selections, and I found a site with visual instructions. Voilà! My Roku is working again.

I have a nickname for myself when it comes to technology, “Quick Draw McGraw.” I sometimes click too quickly and get into trouble with my tech friends. It happened the other day.

I am loving the timer on my watch and use it often. I asked myself if can I empty the dishwasher in less than five minutes. I accidentally clicked delete and the timer disappeared. It took me over 90 minutes to solve this issue, while I experimented on numerous websites. I had to add my Apple password, got it wrong the first time, and they sent me a “one-time code” on my cellphone.

The issue of the “one-time code,” is a whole other op-ed.
