Richard J. “Dickie” Therrien

LIVERMORE – Richard J. “Dickie” Therrien, 90, of Livermore, passed away suddenly due to a cardiac event on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 at his home.

He was born on July 5, 1935, in Jay, the son of Paul O. Therrien and Martha (Perry) Therrien. Dickie was a 1953 graduate of Jay High School. Following high school, he joined the National Guard, then joined the Army in 1956. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. On Sept. 14, 1957, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, he married Annette Chicoine of Livermore Falls.

In his younger years he worked as a laborer for Berry Hill Orchard and D.L. Punch Construction. He later went to work for International Paper Company at both the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, starting out on the paper machines and retired from the maintenance department.

He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, member of the U.P.I.U. Local # 14, former Commander of the Amvets Post 33, serving as an honor guard, and on Special Olympics. He was also a member of the Livermore and Livermore Falls Fire Departments. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and spending many fishing days trolling around Long Pond with Carroll Page, and fishing trips to East Grand Lake and The Allagash. Dick played golf at Maple Lane Golf Course and Wilson Lake Country Club. He also enjoyed playing poker and cribbage regularly.

Dickie looked forward to their yearly 4th of July lobster fest, with all their family and friends which he spent weeks preparing for. Entertaining at camp around the campfire, playing his guitar joined by his sister Louisa was something all the kids and adults looked forward to along with toasting marshmallows.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Annette Therrien of Livermore; sons Scott Therrien of Livermore, and Rodney Therrien and wife Rebecca of Clinton, his daughter, Paula Parsons of Livermore; seven grandchildren, Tanya Therrien, Danielle Swett and husband Theodore, Megan Hill and husband Tyler, Hannah Demillo and husband Kyle, Amy Parsons and wife Meagan, Joshua Parsons and wife Crystal and Adam Parsons; nine great-grandchildren, and one more expected soon; brothers-in-law Robert Chicoine and Albert “Sonny” Jones.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Paul Therrien, Jr., William Therrien, and Ronald Therrien, and his sister, Louise Parker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay. Visiting hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St. Livermore Falls. Members of the military organizations will meet at 6:15 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment in the spring with full military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls.
