Code Enforcement Officer Anne Kwoka was reinstated Dec. 16 by the Greenwood Select Board after recently completing the three state of Maine certifications for shoreland, legal and land use.

Town Clerk Kim Sparks congratulated Kwoka and administered the oath of office for 2026.

Six Planning Board members are scheduled to be sworn in Jan. 5 prior to their meeting. They are John Kwoka, Sarah Wood, Andrew Baker, David Newcomb, and Cheri Thurston. Matt Mitchell, is the Planning Board alternate member.

The Maine Department of Transportation will install two flashing speed signs on Route 26/Main Street where it intersects with Bird Hill Road. New Greenwood Road Foreman Ken Cole said he was glad to hear this as it will hopefully slow motorists down.

Regarding an estimated $25,000 survey and plan to rebuild the entrance of Bird Hill Road onto Route 26, Sparks said MDOT was only willing to assist with some of the drainage work and that the bulk of the cost would fall to the town because Bird Hill Road is not a state road. Cole added that Bird Hill Road was a dead-end road.

The Select Board approved Intermontane Trail as the name of a new subdivision road off Martin Road and Greenwood Road.
